Ugly Sunday morning as thousands of Indians protest in Kuala Lumpur

This year supposed to be Visit Malaysia Year and our 50th Independence. However, it seems that the people in this country no longer respect that.

Few weeks ago, the opposition party took over the street and barely a month after that, the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) who said to be representing the entire Indian community protest in the street of Jalan Ampang blamed the British government for their poor economic status in this country.

After a series of roadblocks in the past couple of days in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, which caused inconvenience for the public road users, the rally still continues with over ten thousands of Indians joined the protest while I'm still soundly asleep.

To be honest, demanding for trillions of dollars and carrying banners that says "We Want Our Right" is rather inappropriate or should I say rather late. Why waited for 50 years only to stand up for their right? What about the other ethnic group (read Chinese) whom their great grandparents migrate to Malaya penniless and without the support from the British government and yet managed to build their economic status here from scratch? And let's not forget, we have a lot of successful Indians in our community which a lot of them are well respected.

Please don't spoil a happy Sunday and the peace in this country which the rest of us enjoy all this years.

Support my campaign to meet Rafael Nadal & I'll donate

I'm not sure why suddenly I have this urge to come up with a campaign to meet up with my tennis idol, Rafael Nadal when he comes to Malaysia in November.

If you haven't know already, Rafael Nadal, the world no. 2 tennis player along with Roger Federer, Pete Sampras and Richard Gasquet will play in two separate exhibition match on the 20th and 22nd November 2007 in conjunction with the Malaysia Independence Tennis Festival.

So, what's on my mind?
My idea is to meet up with Rafael Nadal, have the best seat during his exhibition match and get to do a full coverage of the match that night.
Or worse comes to worst, to catch Nadal on camera at KLIA or Stadium Melawati, watch from my RM83 seat and still do a (live) coverage on the match between him and Gasquet.

What am I going to do?
Create a buzz in the blogosphere about my campaign, the tennis match and get support. Then contact the organizer with my proposal plus the number of support gained.

Why need to create a buzz?

It's all about promoting tennis, Rafael Nadal and Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

What bloggers can do?

All you need to do is write 'Vamos VMY2007' in this comment page.
Each comment with 'Vamos VMY2007' from blogger with a valid blog address equals to RM1 which I will fork out from my own pocket and donate to a charity (will be announced later). Each blog site is only entitled for 1 comment. This charity thing is to show my appreciation to all the support that I received.

Targeted comments: 200
Who can support: Bloggers from all over the world
Closing date for comments: 7.59 p.m., 20 November 2007 or targeted comments achieved.

Well, what are you waiting for? Please leave a comment now.

UPDATES: This campaign is a successful one. Read my meeting with Rafael Nadal here.

Interesting Hot!
Travelers always look for cheap flights to enjoy their vacations in remote areas where they can relax their self. But, most of the travelers prefer to travel in cruises in which all over the renewed are mediterranean cruises. In spite of this Disney is offering vacations package of disney cruise line along with airfare and hotel stay. Over the last few years in Las Vegas luxor hotel is gaining reputation in travelers who are enjoying their vacations there. Lots of travelers are always loved to talk on time travel but it is explored in many movies and novels.

10 reasons why you must watch Nadal instead of Federer

Okay, I've just checked out Ticketpro.com.my about the exhibition match for Malaysia Independence Tennis Festival and tickets are selling fast for the Clash of the Times match between Roger Federer and Pete Sampras. Many of the expensive seats were sold out!

Now, the same thing is not happening to the 'special match' (as mentioned in the Ticketpro website) between Rafael Nadal and Richard Gasquet. As Nadal's huge fan, I'm going to list my 10 reasons why you should watch Nadal vs Gasquet match instead of Federer vs Sampras.

Nadal vs Gasquet

Federer vs Sampras

1. For the energetic and young crowd.

For the boring and conservative crowd.

2. A lot of muscles and good looks.

Only hairy chests.

3. Better hairstyle.

Boring hairstyle and losing hair.

4. A lot of rally and running around. Expect a longer match that makes your money worth.

Big serve and a lot of aces. Expect a shorter match.

5. They are the new generation of tennis players that rule the tennis court.

Federer still rules the tennis court but Sampras has retired since 2002.

6. They are rivals in today’s tennis sport. Expect a ‘real match’.

Merely play for exhibition purpose. Not a ‘real match’.

7. Intense celebration whenever Nadal wins a point or a match.

Selamba or rarely showing any emotion when winning points or match.

8. Watch Nadal’s obsessive compulsive bum groping

Nothing unique

9. Left-handed player vs right-handed player is always more interesting to watch.

Right-handed vs right-handed.

10. Better choice of seats.

Limited choice of seats as many tickets has been sold out.

Live in Malaysia: Fedex vs Pistol Pete and Nadal vs Gasquet

Thanks to an anonymous reader, he/she informed me about the availability of the tickets for exhibition match Malaysia Independence Tennis Festival this coming November.

The first exhibition match is going to be between Rafael Nadal (yes!) and Richard Gasquet on November 20th at Stadium Melawati, Shah Alam. Price tickets range from RM83 to RM403. Kinda pricey but I think I'll just settle for RM83 seat if I don't get any free tickets from my Sis's friend. And probably I should invest on a good binocular.

Then there's this Clash of the Times between Roger Federer and Pete Sampras on November 22nd and tickets range from RM83 to RM443. I'm not sure if I wanna watch this match but catching a glimpse of Fedex and my former tennis idol, Pistol Pete, is going to be great.

For more information go to Ticketpro or call them at +603 7880 7999.

omigod! Fedex and Nadal to play in Shah Alam?!

Am I dreaming or what? Slap me. Pinch me. Omigod! Can you believe it? Can you actually believe that Federer and Nadal are going to play in Malaysia? And my tennis hero of all time, Pete Sampras whom I watched playing on television since I was a kid is going to join those top players as well in Shah Alam.

I googled for Nadal's latest updates at Hamburg Open and to my surprise, I came across this news from The News Straits Times online.

I'm already planning a trip to Bangkok Open this September when I know that Nadal is going to be there. But having my favourite clay court specialist in my homeland is something I can't imagine of! Oh my, am I still dreaming?

Despite all the things our Tourism Minister said about bloggers, I'm going to love him for one second because he's going to officially announce the exhibition match this Wednesday. I just hope the tickets are not going to cost a fortune or I'll just go to Bangkok instead. And I'm not sure if it's going to be easy to get a ticket. Anyone running the event, please contact me about the details on ticketing (if you are interested to find volunteers, you can drop me a line too).

It's Visit Malaysia Year and there's no better way to promote our country than to have these top players playing in our country.

flora hunt: mission completed

It was a tiring day because I went on without sleep since yesterday. I did not sleep after came back from Genting. Instead I stayed awake to update my blog and do some reading on anagrams and cryptograms.

My team and I reached Putrajaya at about 7 a.m. Almost more than half of the cars were already there. There were about 164 cars altogether. During the briefing, we were quite happy because the first half of the destinations were places that we knew well; Shah Alam and SS2, Petaling Jaya. After the midpoint, we were asked to go to Eye On Malaysia, in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa to collect new sheet of questions and accomplished a mission (which involved in answering questions regarding Eye On Malaysia). Then we had to proceed to Pandan Indah (which was a problem because all of us weren't sure where Pandan Indah was) and back to Putrajaya.

My team still couldn't answer most of the questions. We're sucked in anagrams! After two hunts, now my team mates want to quit. I'll probably have to find new team mates in the future because I'm not quitting. I think I just need to do more research and probably involved myself in more hunts to train up my skills.

Example of question for treasure:

Dalam bas ada bilik kecemasan kata orang putih,
Pastikan bukan V6 tapi V1000g, barulah sahih,
Harta karun ini adalah untuk kebajikan,
Yang betul, barulah markah akan diberikan,
Jenama melambangkan percintaan Shah Jehan,
Yang itu sahaja kami inginkan.

Answer: Beras berjenama Taj Mahal (5kg)

lost in (Visit) Malaysia 2007

Apart from the grand launch of the Eye on Malaysia in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2007 (VM 2007) and the list of happening events throughout the year, I don't really see any efforts being put on promotion and advertisement. So, why do I say this?

I am very keen about VM2007. So my friends and I decided to take part in Flora Hunt which is going to be held this Sunday at Putrajaya. This is going to be the second time my team taking part in such activity. The last time, we were quite disappointed with the Lexis Nexis treasure hunt organized by Time Out Solutions. Perhaps we were inexperienced and had high hopes after taking part in the Amazing Mall Challenge. So, this time, we are giving ourselves another try, especially since it's a good way to be part of the celebration.

So, last nite my team member, SYong and I thought we better get some brochures on VM2007 and start doing some preparation to understand more about the event and places to go in Putrajaya, Klang Valley and Selangor.

Our first stop was KL Sentral since KLIA is too far away. We thought we are going to get some brochures at the departure hall. To our disappointment, there is not a single brochure or even VM2007 buntings to be found. Then, we tried again at the entrance near the taxi stand. Well, this time, at least we found a brochure which is not very helpful anyway.

We proceed to Hilton KL which is just right in front of KL Sentral. They were very helpful and provided us with maps and brochures on places to visit.

We thought of going to Cititel Mid Valley to see if we can find extra brochures and again to our disappointment, the concierge doesn't give us anything except a brochure about Zoo Negara in Arabic!

Then we came back to PJ Hilton. This time the concierge here who is very friendly gave me a brochure and a very handy KL and Selangor map.

Well, I understand we tried looking for brochures and maps at a very odd time. But this experience makes me believe that we are not doing good enough to promote VM2007.
