I'll have to give Paradorn Srichaphan's mohawk a pass.
Together with current Thai no.1 tennis player Danai Udomchoke, the boys were promoting Hua Hin Centennial Invitation exhibition match earlier this week.
They will set to play in a one-set mixed doubles match with Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova at 2.30PM on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the brand new centennial Park, InterContinental Hua Hin Resort.
You can get the tickets from ThaiTicketmajor.com or at the hotel.
For fans who want to welcome Sharapova and Venus at the Suvarnabhumi airport, here's a huge tip: the girls will be arriving at 6.30AM on Friday, January 1, 2010. Send me an email if you want further details.
Thanks for BEC-Tero Entertainment for the info.

Holiday Greetings From the Federer Family
Roger Federer wishes everyone a happy holiday and posted a long awaited, updated family photo in his Facebook Fan Page today.
Although we still have no idea which baby is Myla Rose or Charlene Riva, you can actually see that there's a significant difference between the 5-month old twin sisters.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all tennis fans and friends a Merry X'mas and Happy New Year!

Maria Kirilenko Swims With Dolphins
Sania Mirza, Zheng Jie, Maria Kirilenko and Elena Dementieva were at the Dolphins and Sea Lions Show at Sunway Pyramid last weekend.
But looks likes Kirilenko is the only tennis babe who gets into the water.
By the way, these are some rare photos I stole from the organiser's Facebook photo page *evil grin* (credit to Mr Blackberry).
At the end of their trip, they were each given a cuddly dolphin plush stuffed toy as souvenir.

Glam Slam: Great showdown but pathetic turnout
Thanks to Astro SuperSport CH811, I get to watch The Glam Slam - Showdown of Champions in the comfort of my home. It would be great if it's shown on HD though.
Although I did not watch the two-day event from the stadium, I'm glad I attended the meet-the-fans session on Friday.
The Russian babes Elena Dementieva and Maria Kirilenko defeated Asian girls Sania Mirza and Zheng Jie in a 3-0 win at the Melawati Stadium yesterday.
Dementieva/Kirilenko had won the doubles on Saturday beating Mirza/Zheng 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 to give Russia the lead in the exho match.
In the first singles yesterday, Kirilenko was stretched to three sets before defeating Zheng Jie 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in two hours and 10 minutes!
Dementieva completed Russian domination by downing Mirza 6-4, 7-6 (7-0).
Overall, I think the exho match is worth watching because the players took their games seriously. It was like watching a real tournament.
However, the attendance was pathetic (lack of publicity, the organiser failed to use social media to promote the event) and so was the official website (it was down during matches and not up to date).
If the organiser is serious in having another event next year, please stop syiok sendiri or might as well just scrap the event and stop wasting the people's money.

Rendy Lu Yen-hsun back in Taiwan for X'mas celebration
Just a little update on our boy, Asia's no.1 Rendy Lu Yen-hsun.
Rendy has just completed his off season training in Kenya last Saturday.
He should be back in Taipei by now to celebrate X'mas with his family and friends.
Chennai Open will be Rendy's first tournament next year.
We hope he'll bounce back and achieve better rankings in 2010 after a setback in the second half of this year due to flu.

The Ugg-ly Truth About Caroline Wozniacki
I know it's snowing season but it doesn't mean that Caroline Wozniacki can walk into a movie premiere in those ugg-ly boots!
Those horrendous boots simply don't go with that black dress and her pretty face. And let's not even talk about those tanned lines.

Zheng Jie, Sania Mirza, Dementieva, Kirilenko: Meet the fans in KL
WTA babes Zheng Jie, Sania Mirza, Elena Dementieva and Maria Kirilenko are currently in town for the annual tennis exhibition match, The Glam Slam Showdown of Champions 2009.
The tennis stars were at Pavilion KL this afternoon for a meet and greet autograph session.
As a tennis fan, of course I didn't want to miss this event.
I was a bit reluctant to go to KL at first because my office is just next to the shopping mall and I was really lazy to go all the way there on a public holiday!
I went anyway as I've promised to meet up with fellow blogger, Pueh Tian. You can read his take on this event here.
We were on the Speed Lane, a priority queue lane booked in advance through Firefly's Facebook fan page.
Of all the four girls, I would say that I love Dementieva the most! I've never met a player so friendly... she would look deep in your eyes, greet you and give you a big smile! *faint*
Overall, I'm happy that I attended this event.
Just that I wish the players' entrance can be a bit more organised and glamourous (just like the event's tagline - The Glam Slam :P)
And not that I don't like Jay Menon, but I think a guy announcer could have make a slight difference to this event :P

All's Well That Ends Well
The CAS dismissed appeals by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and International Tennis Federation (ITF), which wanted Gasquet banned for up to two years.
In his defense, Gasquet said he went to the nightclub with friends to see a French DJ perform after pulling out of the Miami Masters in Key Biscayne with a shoulder injury. He met a woman named Pamela there and kissed her several times.
The court said experts “agreed that the minute amount of cocaine could have been transferred in this manner.”
The verdict however was greeted with dismay by WADA and the ITF.
Earlier this week, Belgians Yanina Wickmayer and Xavier Malisse also have their suspension lifted.
They were banned in November for breaking WADA regulations by failing to report their whereabouts for drug testing.
Neither of them failed a doping test.
Wickmayer claims she was not properly informed of the online reporting requirements for drug-testing that led to her ban.
Wickmayer and Malisse are cleared to play in tournaments by ITF while Gasquet is legally allowed to compete in tournaments.

Rewind: Unseen before footage from the Malaysian Open '09
I had too much free time last weekend so I decided to put some of the unused footage clips from the Malaysian Open back in September into some sort of a music video.
As usual, I appreciate off court a lot, so you'll only find off court footage in this MV.

Finally the IOC has approved adding mixed doubles event to the Olympics.
This new category will be part of the lineup for the 2012 London Games, where the tournament will be played on grass at Wimbledon.
Asia has some very good mixed double pairs like India's Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi (2009 Australian Open champs) as well as Taiwan's Rendy Lu Yen-hsun and Hsieh Su-wei (Asian Hopman Cup winners).

Lindsay Davenport defends Tiger Woods' wife
Lindsay Davenport told Entertainment Tonight that the picture being painted on her friend Elin Nordegren (Tiger Woods' wife) by the media as an aggressive woman is COMPLETELY false.
People who think that Elin is a man beater should go get a life.
If I know my husband is f***ing 11 other women (or more), I will get a knife, not a golf club.
Now, I wish Roger Federer has something to say about his friend Tiger :D
(Via ETonline.com)
"Certainly she did not go after [Woods] physically and go after him with a golf club. That is not what happened," Davenport said.Davenport has a home near Tiger's house in Orange County, California and described Elin as "very loving, very loyal" and "level-headed."
"She's incredibly hurt by what has gone on, but she handles herself with class, and she's working it out as best she can."
"I don't think Elin particularly cares what people think about her... Although she is having a tough time, she's really trying to get through it for the kids."

Davis Cup: Spain's win is perfect therapy for HCFoo to blog again
My blogging mood is pretty much determined by Rafael Nadal's performance and success.
So, to know that the Spanish team won in the Davis Cup final and Nadal is indeed a huge boost for me to blog again.
Rafael Nadal closed out this season with a bang by earning two points for Spain in the Davis Cup final.
Hopefully 2010 will be a better year for Nadal after this win.. perhaps he could start by defending his Australian Open title :D
