Twitter reacts to Rafael Nadal’s La Decima at Roland Garros

Rafael Nadal became the first man in tennis history to win 10 championships at the same major on Sunday in Paris. Nadal beat Stanislas Wawrinka 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 to win a record-setting 10th French Open title. In total, he has now accumulated 15 Grand Slam titles in his career and surpasses Pete Sampras to become the second on the men's singles list behind Roger Federer's 18 titles.

It is a huge milestone in the tennis and sporting achievement because there is no other men’s tennis player who has won more than seven singles titles at the same Grand Slam event. A month ago, Nadal also won a record of 10th singles title on clay in Monte Carlo and again in Barcelona.

We've compiled some of the best reactions from his peers, friends, partners and supporters on Twitter:

Maria Sharapova once said her life was too boring for Twitter.

Looks like her life is no longer boring when she tweeted her first post @mariasharapova. Within the first hour, she had racked up more than 12,000 followers.

The Russian, who won her opening match at the Australian Open earlier today, also tweet a photo taken from one of the many graffiti and street art seen in Melbourne.

Andy Roddick: Birthday in NYC with wifey Brooklyn Decker

Celebrating his 27th birthday, Andy Roddick was spotted out and about in NYC with his wifey, Sports Illustrated model Brooklyn Decker.

The couple stopped off for some coffee during their city stroll.

Earlier, Roddick voiced his disappointment after the Tennis Integrity Unit has put regulations on the Twitter rights of players.
Roddick tweeted, “I think its lame the US Open is trying to regulate our tweeting. I understand the on-court issue but not sure they can tell us if we can’t do it on our own time … we’ll see.”
Tennis Integrity Unit warned players about using Twitter away from the court, as they could potentially send out “certain sensitive information” about the matches.

Serena Williams thinks twice about twittering during match

“Maybe I’ll send a tweet from my chair when I’m playing: ‘Gosh, I shouldn’t have lost that game!” But I think the umpire will probably stop me, thinking I’m getting coached.”
~ Serena Williams

The 2002-03 Wimbledon champion said she planned to send a twitter update after her official, pre-tournament news conference this weekend.

“I’m really into that,” Williams said. “Mostly because I want my fans to be able to relate to me.”
