TENNIS WATCH: Del Potro's wrist, Spanish boys off-court

Since I'm back, I think I'll write more topics that interest me in order to keep this blogging momentum going.

Sad to say this but US Open champ Juan Martin Del Potro could be missing from the entire season due to a wrist injury he suffered since playing at the Australian Open.

He'll go under the knife to fix his right wrist on Tuesday.

At the same time, Del Potro also dismissed the rumour in Argentina that he is suffering from depression. He called them 'malicious and false'.

Fernando Verdasco was spotted at the opening of the "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity" exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City yesterday.

The event was also attended by celebrities like Taylor Swift, Kate Hudson and Katy Perry.

Guess what, Verdasco said he's single and Camilla Belle is just a friend.

While I think he looks rather suave at the event, I would prefer to see more flesh like the one in the recent FHM Bionic magazine.

The other Spanish Armada boys - Tommy Robredo, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez also get to feature on a cover magazine recently.

Spain Davis Cup team meet the Prime Minister

Spain’s Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero honoured the Davis Cup champs in a ceremony at his official residence yesterday.

Rafael Nadal and his teammates including Albert Costa, Fernando Verdasco, Tommy Robredo, Feliciano Lopez, David Ferrer and Juan Carlos Ferrero successfully defended the title after completing a clean 5-0 victory over the Czech Republic in the final on Sunday.

Spain has won the Davis Cup in 2000, 2004 and 2008, and is the first country to successfully defend the title since Sweden in 1998.

Novak Djokovic roars in Paris

The final match could have ended earlier.

When Novak Djokovic won the fourth game in the second set, I switched channel believing that the Serbian would have win it easily. I managed to catch the third set tie-breaker though.

Djokovic walked away with a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (3) victory over Frenchman Gael Monfils to win the Paris Masters for the first time.

The victory gave Djokovic back-to-back ATP Tour titles after his win over top-ranked Roger Federer in Basel last Sunday.

Looks like Djokovic will be a strong favorite when he’ll try to defend his title at the eight-man ATP World Tour Finals from November 22-29 in London next week.

In the doubles final, Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic beat Spain’s Marcel Granollers and Tommy Robredo with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

Spain to meet Czech Republic in Davis Cup final

Spain will host Czech Republic in the December's Davis Cup final after the two teams recorded 3-0 victories in the semifinals.

Feliciano Lopez and Tommy Robredo clinched the tie for Spain, defeating Israel's doubles specialist Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram 7-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2.

Spain, winners in 2000, 2004 and 2008, play without Rafael Nadal and Fernando Verdasco who were watching from the sidelines.

David Ferrer and Juan Carlos Ferrero filled in for their injured team mates and recorded straight-set wins in both matches on Day 1.

Ferrer defeated Harel Levy 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 and Ferrero ground down Dudi Sela 6-4, 6-2, 6-0.

Meanwhile, Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic defeated Croatia's Marin Cilic and Lovro Zovko 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 yesterday.

The first day of play stretched to almost 10 hours as the Czechs narrowly win two five-setters to go up 2-0.

Stepanek withstood 78 aces for almost six hours to edge past big server Ivo Karlovic 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 7-6(6), 6-7(2), 16-14, while Berdych held firm after losing a two-set lead to defeat Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3.

It will be the Czechs’ first final since their only Davis Cup triumph in 1980, led by Ivan Lendl.

VIDEO: Novak Djokovic's scandalous pic leaked... now here's the tape!

You've seen the photos... now here's the video!

Find out how Novak Djokovic teased the crowd and then stripped down to his undies.

Do check out the interviews with Djokovic and Tommy Robredo at the Players Evening.
The behind-the-scene at the fashion show is pretty hilarious and fun to watch too.

Novak Djokovic stripped to his briefs in Montreal, again!

It seems like the Canadians enjoy watching Novak Djokovic stripped to his undies. He did it in Montreal back in 2007.

And he did it again last Sunday.

As he strutted down the catwalk in an oriental-style jacket, the Serbian was mentioned in the ATP website to have "provocatively teased the crowd as he made his way around the stage, before dropping the jacket to pose in just his underwear, much to the enjoyment of the audience".

I'm better on the catwalk than I'm in the court these days!

Tadaaaa!! Here's the proof!

Other ATP World Tour stars who made their appearances on the catwalk (no striptease, though) were Tommy Robredo, Jurgen Melzer, Jeremy Chardy, Mark Knowles, Yen-Hsun Lu, Simon Aspelin, Paul Hanley, Teimuraz Gabashvili, Milos Raonic and Mischa Zverev.

Remembering Federico Luzzi...

Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray led an all-star cast of ATP World Tour players who played exhibition matches at the Rome Masters on last weekend to raise funds for FedeLux.

Fedelux is a leukemia foundation established in the memory of former player Federico Luzzi, who died of the disease last year aged 28 last year.

Tommy Robredo, Marat Safin, Potito Starace, Andreas Seppi, Simone Bolelli and Filippo Volandri also took part in the exhibition, which was attended by Luzzi’s parents Maurizio and Paola.

Most of the players wore shirts with an image of Luzzi.
Federer said, “It was a nice match for me to play, knowing that Federico is up above watching us, having his parents here.”
Djokovic said, “We played in his honour and for the foundation that his family has created to fight against leukemia. It was very emotional for all of us who knew him. He was a very positive guy and I always remember him with a smile on his face.”

The Spanish Armada troops turn sunny beach boys

The Spanish Armada (Feliciano Lopez, Fernando Verdasco, Tommy Robredo, David Ferrer and Nicolas Almagro) has invaded and conquered our hearts again!

The shirtless, chest-baring poses...

In plain white, see through shirts

But one man is missing!

How can they pose for Elle without Captain Rafael Nadal?

Australian Open: Some off court photos you might have missed

Here's a couple of priceless photos of Tommy Robredo relaxing at Port Melbourne beach ahead of the Australian Open.

But sitting on an Australian flag which appears to be a towel is rather disrespectful, eh???

I hope this will not create sort of a controversy. I swear if this happen in my country, Tommy will be asked to apologize to the whole nation.

Rumour says that Andy Murray is confident that he will get the role as the Hulk in Hollywood soon.

Australian Open defending champion Novak Djokovic launched his signature 'Falcon' range with the help of an aerial court at Melbourne's State Theatre and Molly the falcon.

Jelena Jankovic goes Chinese. She surprises many after signing with a leading Chinese sports brand called ANTA.

I have no problem with JJ chosing an almost unheard brand. Tennis does not belong to Nike or Adidas anyway.

Andy Roddick shows us what the Americans love and prefer to play.
