Venus Williams and Garbine Muguruza In Wimbledon Final

Source: Pool/Getty Images Europe via zimbio.com

Even with the absence of Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, Wimbledon women's singles spotlight still shine with Venus Williams and Garbine Muguruza in the final.

Williams, 37, who is a winner of seven major tennis tournaments managed to beat Britain's top female player Johanna Konta to guarantee a place for her ninth Wimbledon final. The American will be seeking a whooping sixth Wimbledon singles title and her first since 2008, when she defeated her younger sister, Serena. A year later, she lost the final to Serena.

It has been a tough two weeks for Williams who came into the tournament after involving in a fatal car crash incident, which eventually saw new evidences that pointed out she had drove lawfully.

Williams who is currently world's no. 11 will play no. 15 Garbine Muguruza of Spain, who cruised into her second Wimbledon final by ousting Magdalena Rybarikova, 6-1, 6-1, in slightly more than an hour.

Muguruza, the French Open champion last year, reached the final at Wimbledon in 2015, when she lost to Serena Williams in straight sets. At this point of time, Muguruza could be playing her best tennis and on top of her game. She has lost only one set in the tournament, and that was during her upset match of the world's no. 1, Angelique Kerber, in the fourth round. She was back in the game after that and dismissed Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets in the quarterfinals.

Both Williams and Muguruza will go into the final with a 3-1 head-to-head with them. In their last encounter, Muguruza defeated Williams in three sets in their quarterfinal match in Rome, Italy. The rest of the previous matches were on hardcourts with the last one in Wuhan final back in 2015. Williams certainly comes in with an advantage playing at Wimbledon final but Muguruza has already sent out an early warning saying that she has learned from her Wimbledon heartache two years' ago to beat Williams in Saturday's final.

BMW Malaysian Open shows interest in Venus Williams, Ana Ivanovic

BMW Malaysian Open is back in action on Facebook and announced that they'll be making some interesting announcements over the next couple of weeks.

In an article published on NST in January, it was reported that the tournament has shown interest in Venus Williams and Ana Ivanovic. Both players have never played in the tournament before.

Williams was supposed to play in the 2012 edition but withdrew due to illness and injury.

This year, the BMW Malaysian Open will take place on April 14-21 at the Royal Selangor Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur.

During the Australian Open in January, Williams was shown the early exit. It was only the second time Williams had lost in the first round of the Australian Open in 14 appearances. This week, Williams didn't get to pass the second round after losing to Petra Kvitova in three sets at the Qatar Open. It is unknown if she is fully fit to play in the next couple of months as she has been struggling with back injury, fatigue and inconsistency.

Ivanovic also suffered a second round loss at the Qatar Open. Earlier this year, she had quite a successful run claiming the Auckland title and reached the quarterfinal round at the Australian Open.

Venus Williams traps in car after havoc evening at pre-Wimbledon party

Apparently it wasn't all smooth at the WTA Tour pre-Wimbledon players' party.

Strong winds during that evening had caused a sponsor's board outside Sir Richard Branson's event to topple, landing on one unsuspecting bystander, and then hit a sponsored car carrying Venus Williams.

The former Wimbledon champion had to remain inside the car while organisers removed the board before she could head back to her hotel.

Uh oh, malfunction wardrobe... guess who?

Remember that flesh-coloured undies controversy created by Venus Williams? That was intentional.

While arriving at her sister Serena's house for a party, she accidentally exposed her nipple to the camera.

I believe this is not the first time it happened.

Tsvetana Pironkova is Lu Yen-hsun of women's tennis

Women's tennis kinda sucky these days so I don't really watch it lately. I really miss those days where Maria Sharapova, Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic rule the WTA.

Nevertheless, it's worth to mention Bulgaria’s Tsvetana Pironkova's achievement last night, who made it into the semifinals at Wimbledon after beating Venus Williams 6-2, 6-3.

Just like Rendy Lu Yen-hsun, she is currently ranked world no.82 and managed to pull off the biggest upset at Wimbledon thus far.

Pironkova, whose home country does not have a single grass court, will play for a spot in the Wimbledon final against the queen of meltdown V
era Zvonareva who knocked out Kim Clijsters 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Rafael Nadal regains French Open title, world no.1 ranking

It's a sweet revenge for Rafael Nadal and his fans!

After struggling to get back into form since his lost to Robin Soderling at Roland Garros last year, Nadal finally found his way back to the top as the King of Clay again.

Celebrity power couple spotted at RG: Jay-Z and Beyonce

Also spotted at RG: Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt

Not only that he wins his fifth French Open title and 7th Grand Slam, we also reclaims the top ATP rank from Roger Federer again on Monday.
“I lost last year because I was not well-prepared, and I had very low morale last year, as well,” said Nadal who covered his face with a towel and cried after the match ended.

“But this time, I’m back. I’m back—and I win.”Nadal is 38-1 over his career at Roland Garros.
Now he is only one French Open title shy of Bjorn Borg’s record of 6.This is the second time in three years that Nadal won the tournament without losing a set.

There's no time to celebrate or relax as Nadal plans to fly to London today and start practicing on grass. Of course I hope he'll clinch the second Wimbledon title this year.

Meanwhile, in the women's singles, Francesca Schiavone defeated Samantha Stosur in Saturday’s final, 6-4, 7-6 (2), and celebrated by kissing the clay.

Yikess!

At 29, Schiavone became the oldest woman to win her first Grand Slam title in 41 years.

In the men's doubles final, Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic beat Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy 7-5, 6-2 on Saturday to clinch their third grand-slam title together.

The William sisters earned their 12th Grand Slam title by beating Katarina Srebotnik and Kveta Peschke 6-2, 6-3 in the women's doubles.

Now the clay season has officially ended. Let's look forward to the grass surface.

Astro SuperSport bans Venus Williams due to flesh-coloured undies?

The hype about Venus Williams flashing too much flesh on court is not something new.

It started off even since the Australian Open earlier this year.

Personally, I like Venus' French Open skimpy outfits but Astro, my local satellite television thinks otherwise.

According to an inside source, Astro decided to ban Venus due to her inappropriate dressing - flesh-coloured shorts, which you could have mistaken her for not wearing any underwear!

So what if Venus still wearing the same dress to the final? Let's wait and see.

Updated: Here's the latest from source... Astro will air Venus' LIVE match tonight but any repeated or delayed matches of Venus will be edited if it's inappropriate.
