Wimbledon Day Two wrap

Honestly it's really tough to have a life and blog at the same time. Day 3 is almost over and I'm still struggling to come up with Day 2 wrap.

The guy in the picture fainted due to the heat at Wimbledon. I think I'm going to faint soon too.

I'll quickly wrap this up and go to bed, which I haven't been to for the last couple of days.

Venus Williams opened the defence of her Wimbledon singles crown in impressive fashion with a 6-3, 6-2 victory on Centre Court over Swiss teenager Stefanie Voegele.

Jelena Jankovic overcame blisters and a broken toenail to win 6-4, 7-6 against German Julia Goerges .

Ana Ivanovic narrowly avoided a first round defeat at Wimbledon for a second successive year as she tiptoed past Lucie Hradecka 5-7 6-2 8-6.

The retiring Marat Safin said goodbye to Wimbledon singles on Tuesday at 29 after his defeat to Jesse Levine.

The 133rd-ranked qualifier found himself on Court No. 18 beating Safin 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Safin who has vowed to retire at season's end was asked how he feels about being done with Wimbledon.
"Relieved," the 29-year-old Safin replied. "Pretty much relieved."
Sixth seed Andy Roddick was given a brief scare before he secured a 6-3 7-6 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.

Meanwhile, one of my favourite, Juan Martin del Potro also reached the second round with a 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 win over Frenchman Arnaud Clement.

Del Potro will now play 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt for a place in the last 32.

Quiet Murray, Clumsy Kendrick

Looks like nobody's interested to talk about Andy Murray's new Fred Perry kit when he made his debut at the Centre Court yesterday.

Judy and girlfriend Kim Sears happy and proud with their favourite guy.

Perhaps the only person worth talking about was Robert Kendrick.

At one point during the ninth game, a diving volley from Kendrick was said to be a reminiscent of Boris Becker in his prime.

After losing 5-7, 7-6, 3-6, 4-6 to Murray, Kendrick had another memorable dive while walking off the court...

.... and nobody else was more shocked than Murray himself.

I bet Kendrick hate losing to Murray already!

Unusual betting on Jurgen Melzer vs Wayne Odesnik match

A number of betting companies contacted the Tennis Integrity Unit after thousands of pounds were staked at several betting shops on a straight-sets victory for Jurgen Melzer.

Paddy Power and Ladbrokes stopped taking bets more than hour before the match, while the online betting company, Betfair, became suspicious when more than £350,000 went on Melzer two hours before the start of play.

When asked about the furore, American Wayne Odesnik, said, "I would never do anything to jeopardise my future.”
The Tennis Integrity Unit is expected to look into the game to determine whether the patterns were sinister or simply reflected fans' judgment that the little-fancied Odesnik, who was carrying an injury, was likely to lose heavily.

Divorce: Of Rafael Nadal, Radek Stepanek and Nicole Vaidisova

Times Online reported on Tuesday that all was not fine with Rafael Nadal back home in Majorca.

For many weeks there have been whispers that matters were complicated in the Nadal household -- that his parents, Sebastian and Ana Maria had separated.

If the information holds true, Nadal could well have been playing under much stress in the past few months.

Did Radek Stepanek and Nicole Vaidisova divorce before they even got married?

News are spreading that Nicole Vaidisova has dumped Radek Stepanek some time after the French Open.

Vaidisova, who used to rank as high as no.7 back in 2007, is expected to drop to about no. 130 in the rankings. Perhaps it's time to get rid of that worm and get back into the game!
