Rendy Lu Yen-hsun moves up to no. 42, signs Saab

Rendy Lu Yen-hsun's breakthrough performance at Wimbledon has sent his ranking to a career high and open up to new sponsorship opportunities recently.

In the latest ATP rankings released on Monday, Rendy jumped 40 spots to no. 42 after becoming the first Taiwanese player and the first Asian since Shuzo Matsuoka in 1995 to make it into a quarterfinals in a grand slam tournament.

Rendy was greeted with a heroic welcome when he was back in Taipei City last week.

In the last weekend, he has offered his appreciation to sponsors including Adidas and CPC Corp., Taiwan's largest oil refiner.

On Monday, Saab, a leading automobile company signed Rendy and offered him a sponsorship deal that worth NT$3 million in cash.

A SAAB 93SportCombi 2.0t Linear worth NT$1.78 million was also given to Rendy as part of the deal.

Rendy also made a TV appearance on a TVBS channel talk show. The 1-hour interview will be shown this coming Sunday on July 11, 2010 at 8PM.

Now I'm looking forward to the day when I see him on CNN's TalkAsia :D

Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams take Wimbledon crown

Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams were grinning from ear to ear at the Wimbledon Champions Ball in London yesterday.

Rafa can't stop smiling :D

Earlier in the day, Nadal, the current world no. 1 player had an easy win over Tomas Berdych with the results 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 to win his 2nd Wimbledon title and claim his 8th Grand Slam overall.

Nadal marked his victory with a celebratory somersault.

Nadal with his signature bite.

Mean
while, on Saturday Serena Williams defeated Russian Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 in just 66 minutes to win a fourth Wimbledon and her 13th Grand Slam title.

Thumbs up to Serena for the win and keeping it minimal with that little jacket.

Nadal now stands halfway to Federer’s record total of 16 Grand Slams. Let's hope he'll achieve a career grand slam by winning the US Open later in August.

Rafael Nadal to face Tomas Berdych in Wimbledon final

Andy Murray's body language said it all.

He's just not ready to beat one of the best players on grass surface yet. After all he's a specialist on hard court, not on this slower surface.

Dejected fans

Or maybe he was just overwhelmed by the entire nation's hope.

Murray was outclassed by 2008 Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal in straight sets 6-4, 7-6, 6-4.

David Beckham and son Brooklyn were among the famous people at the match

Last year during this time he was said to be in front of a TV in Spain, resting his aching knees.

Nadal is back in the Wimbledon final this year to chase for his second trophy at the All England Club and eighth Grand Slam championship!

He will take on Tomas Berdych who upset Novak Djokovic 6-3, 7-6(9), 6-3.

No more chest thumping for Djokovic

Statistic wise, Nadal has a better chance to win the prestigious title this weekend as Berdych has not beaten the Spaniard since 2006.

Serena Williams, Vera Zvonareva reach Wimbledon finals

Put Vera and Serena together and you'll create a ticking time bomb (or two).

'A more composed' (according to Lindsay Davenport) Vera Zvonareva has advanced to her first Grand Slam final after defeating unseeded Tsvetana Pironkova 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals of Wimbledon today.

Pironkova is down and out but made a name for herself in this tournament.

Pironkova’s defeat ended her bid to become the first unseeded woman to reach the final at the SW19.

In another semifinal match, Serena Williams defeated unseeded Petra Kvitova in straight sets to reach her 3rd straight Wimbledon final and 6th overall.

Petra Kvitova pissed off with her performance.

Serena overcame the world no. 62 Czech player to win 7-6 (5), 6-2.

Williams is now one win away from her 4th Wimbledon title and 13th Grand Slam championship!

Serena is expected to work her ass off in order to stop Vera in the final.

I suspect this is going to be a very intense women's final.
