Rafael Nadal watches Euro Cup match between Spain and Portugal

After the Spanish football team defeated Portugal in a penalty shootout last night to enter the Euro Cup final, it could be a huge boost for Rafael Nadal to do the same at Wimbledon.

He took some time off to watch the football match where most of his friends like Iker Casillas and Fernando Llorente were playing.

Feliciano Lopez and Iker Casillas at Las Ventas bullfight

Last week, Feliciano Lopez was spotted watching bullfight with Real Madrid's Iker Casillas at Las Ventas, Madrid.

Bullfight is too gruesome for my taste and I'm totally against it.

HCFoo wants Spain to win World Cup 2010

There's no reason not to support the Spanish team in their first 2010 World Cup final when Fernando Verdasco does.

I'm an Azzurri fan for a decade now but this weekend would be an exception.

Being a fan of Rafael Nadal and the Spanish Armada boys, it's natural for me to root for Spain.

Nadal has announced in his website that he'll be taking a break from tennis and fly all the way to South Africa to support good friend Iker Casillas and his team mates.

Meanwhile, Fernando Verdasco and the rest of the Spanish Davis Cup players are preparing for the quarterfinals match against France.

Hopefully they'll be able to focus on putting an 'A' game tomorrow and not distracted by football.

What's up with Rafael Nadal?

Here are some updates of the world no. 1 player Rafael Nadal.

On November 26, Nadal joined the rest of his Spanish team mates in meeting the Prime Minister of Spain Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero at the Moncloa Palace, in Madrid after the country's victory at the Davis Cup final.

On the following day, Iker Casillas and Nadal met to discuss the charity event called 'Friends of Iker vs Friends of Rafa'.

This is the second year of their charity event with the main objective to free the world of malaria. The event will involve both tennis and football, and as an extra treat, a bit of karting action.

All the players have not yet been confirmed but F1 driver Fernando Alonso will definitely be taking part and Casillas and Nadal could not resist taking pops at the other today.
"Rafa has a good pair of feet but he does not have the vision," quipped the Real Madrid goalkeeper before Nadal responded with: "Iker could do with some tennis lessons, I would even give them for free if he wanted.
The event will take place three days after the clash in the Camp Nou on the December 16.

On Friday, Nadal was a celebrity representative of a vendor at the Moscow Millionaire Fair, an annual event that attracts some of the wealthiest people on the planet.
"Moscow's not like Ibiza, it's a lot colder," Nadal, who traveled to the Russian capital to promote the luxury houses of Ibiza-based Vitaeibiza Homes.
A throng of journalists met Nadal upon his arrival at the Crocus Expo fair complex, where more than 200 Russian and foreign companies have been exhibiting their luxury goods - everything from cars to yachts to helicopters - amid tight security measures.

Friends of Rafa vs Friends of Iker

Nothing is better than to see Rafael Nadal combining two of his passion, tennis and football for a good cause.

Iker Casillas, Real Madrid's goalkeeper, and Nadal recently team up to plan various activities to promote public awareness of malaria and to raise money to buy vaccines for children infected by the disease.

"I'm extremely pleased to do it," explained Casillas. "The fight against malaria is a great cause that I've never undertaken. Rafa and I want this to be just the beginning, and we hope it's repeated for years to come. It's a great cause and I hope Madrid Arena is packed on Thursday. Nadal, the other athletes who will be there, and I would like to see the stands full of people. If it goes well, we will try to hold it in a larger venue next year."

Nadal had the support of cyclist, Alberto Contador, Real Madrid players, Fabio Cannavaro, Jesús Navas, Raúl González, and Formula One driver Pedro Martínez de la Rosa.

Casillas’ team was Oscar Pereiro, David Ferrer, Fernando Hierro, Álvaro de Benito, the singer from Pignoise, and Fernando Alonso.

Nadal's team won on penalties. Nadal showed his football skills by scoring six goals. The penalties came after the combined scores between the teams after the football and tennis was 14-14.

Fernando Alonso received the most applause on his appearance. Check him in action here. I think he should stick to his F-1 car.
