Meme: Chinese New Year's tradition
What are some of your new year’s good luck traditions?
Rules :Copy the person and persons’ names that sent it to you and add your own at the bottom of the list.
*My mom used to collect some coins and when the new year comes she put the coins in a bowl and shake it to create sounds. She said its good luck for money throughout the year. And also wearing dotted dresses on new year don’t know why. CC/chalyza/keep
*My old folks always told us to avoid spending money on new years day. They said, once you spend on the first day of the year, you like to spend the rest of the year.Behind d Scenes of ME/ Retchel’s Pure Life/ /A little bit of me
*I grew up believing that if you have some money on your pocket (whatever you’re wearing) come New Year’s eve it will ensure steady flow of income throughout the year. The other belief is that the main door of the house should be wide open come New Year’s eve so that good luck will be ushered in. Juliana of MY WORLD and JULIANA’S LAIR.
*I don't have any traditionals during New Year. Juliana RW
*I have keep a RM50 note which the serial number is begin with number 8 and end up with number 8 also, between the number, it’s not encourage to have number 4 and number 0. By doing this we will have steady income throughout the whole life. It’s not easy to find such note. Another ways is to keep your “Ang Pao” in your pocket or put it inside your pillow on the New Year eve before you sleep. Hazel
*I must make sure our house is clean & tidy on CNY Eve because the God of Prosperity will only "visit" a house which is comfortable to stay with! And I must not sweep or mop the house on First Day of CNY or else the wealth may be ruined. Dora
I've written a similar topic before in this post and I'm going to paste one of the tradition here: Must have leftovers from reunion dinner on Chinese New Year eve.

The year 2007 is rather memorable and a good year for me. Many good and bad things happened but I only remember the good ones.
I hope I can share more about my loved one whom I met this year in this blog but I've done it in another blog which I remain anonymous. What can I say? Meeting my love is the best thing that happened to me this year.
The bonus for this year is definitely meeting up with my tennis idol, the world number 2, Rafael Nadal. Not only that I managed to get his signature, I managed to snap a personal picture with him and watched him playing live from a RM388 seat.
From a Buddhist perspective, it's a blessing that I met many rinpoches this year including Dzongsar Jamyang Khyenste Rinpoche and I've even attended the Kalachakra empowerment by His Holiness Sakya Trizin which is the highest point for any Buddhists.
The year 2007 has been very kind to me as I've won several contests. It started off with a cool HP desktop loaded with Window Vista after I've won the first place in the Window Movie Maker competition at the Window Vista launch. After this big winning, I moved on to win several consolation prizes from Golden Screen Cinema (GSC), T.G.I Friday's as well as ticket to watch Rose Rose i Love You the musical. Still I have not hit any jackpot or 4D though.
Anyway, the most important things about 2007 is the good health and happiness of my family and friends. And talking about friend, I am happy and proud of my best friend, Shuh Yong, for letting go of her good job and her car (her hubby) to pursue her dream to study abroad for her postgraduate degree. Not everyone is able to do that and I'm proud of you (although it's sad because we are not able to hangout anymore) for making such drastic step in your life.
So bye bye 2007, hello 2008!

SEO Meme
This is based on the SEO theory that links to posts inside your blog are more important than links to your homepage. I have selected three posts I want to promote along with my site’s name. You will do the same thing.
Keep it simple and spread our good work around to both share and build some ratings! Pick three posts that you feel are your best or those you simply want to promote. Your site name is listed with your 3 selected posts beneath.
Once you have your post up: Add the sites and post links of the folks you tagged onto your post. Try to add the site and post links to anyone involved to maximize the effectiveness.
Tag a minimum of 5 people! Try your best not to double tag people so it will spread better! Please actually read the posts from everyone so you can see some really good work from our beloved blogging friends! Make your title a little different from mine to avoid repetitive titles. Please try maintain some friendly updates to your post too.

Books Meme
Total number of books owned:
Honestly I have lost count of the books I have. I have books in my hometown and here in Petaling Jaya. And months ago I sold a lot of books on Ebay just to have more space for my library books which I borrowed (many of them) for my project paper.
Last book bought:
I did not buy any books recently. But the last book bought was What Makes You Not A Buddhist written by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse. I haven't finish this book even though it has been bought for more than a month already.

1. Can you accept that all things are impermanent and that there is no essential substance or concept that is permanent?
2. Can you accept that all emotions bring pain and suffering and that there is no emotion that is purely pleasurable?
3. Can you accept that all phenomena are illusory and empty?
4. Can you accept that enlightenment is beyond concepts; that it's not a perfect blissful heaven, but instead a release from delusion?
According tot he author, only when you can answer these questions, with an unequivocal "yes",can you truly consider yourself a Buddhist.
Last book read:
Same as the last book bought.
Five books that mean a lot to you:
1. Pointing Towards Vajrayaya by HH Sakya Trizin
2. The Luck Factor by Richard Wiseman
3. Change Your Life in Seven Days by Paul McKenna
4. Awaken The Giant Within by Anthony Robbins
5. Syair Siti Zubaidah (the author of this classic remain anonymous)

I've Got Tagged Again!
Okay, this is another meme and this time it's from Izad. I've decided not to pass it to anyone since I've mentioned in my previous blogging tips post that meme's a turn-off.
What were you doing 10 years ago?
It was 1997. I was in my second year in a local university and living happily with my fellow housemates. However, I was struggling financially and had to work as a promoter in a supermarket in Kajang after lectures. Sometimes I would stand whole day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and listen to the same songs countless times everyday. I wasn't really happy with the course I took in university but I did enjoy doing presentations and mingle with other course mates.
What were you doing 1 year ago?
I did a lot of freelance writing and editing jobs back then. Always a lone ranger at work and was missing the 'normal' working life surrounded by colleagues and free drinks at the pantry. However, I love the flexibility I had back then. I can work through the midnight till morning daylight and sleep the whole afternoon.
Five snacks you enjoy
1. Any mint chocolate bars and candies
2. Oreo cookies
3. Kit Kat
4. Famous Amos chocolate chips cookies
5. GSC's popcorn.

2. Wilson Phillips' You're In Love
3. MC Hammer's U Can't Touch This
4. Color Me Badd's Close To Heaven
5. Man Bai's Kau Ilhamku
Five things you would do if you were a millionaire
1. Bring my family on a Buddhist pilgrimage tour to India
2. Start up my own educational publishing business
3. Spend more time on contributing to charity work
4. Sponsoring a research project to determine if reading deficit is the main cause students (particularly from the rural area) struggling to learn Maths and Science in English.
5. Get myself a private music teacher to teach me how to play the piano.
Five bad habits
1. Obsessive
2. Procrastinate
3. Couch potato
4. Easily touched and cry
5. Hates house chores
Five things you like doing

2. Staring at the sea
3. Watching reality shows

the face behind the blog - hcfoo

I don't have much interest. I enjoy non-fiction books, blogging, tennis, history, jazz, concerts and live music, reality shows and documentaries.
Well, as for other personal stuff, it's better remain unsaid. Now, I'm going to tag anyone in my blogroll who are interested to reveal themselves. Anyone?

more tagged post: celebrities I want to meet
This fantasy meme actually goes like this:
“You are in an alternate universe. You are a single person not involved in any relationship, and you have just published a New York Times bestseller. A movie studio has invited you to Hollywood to talk about a movie deal for three days, and as part of the wooing process, they offer to host a one-on-one dinner each night with the celebrity of your choice. Who would you pick? It could be a star you want to have a shot at ‘hooking up’ with, or it could just be someone you admire.”

Actually I'm not really keen in meeting up with celebrities. I just want to meet up with 'Chow Kung' because I'm really sleepy now. Good nite!
Updates: Ok lah, I've decided to tag Vhanded. I'm curious to know what he would say or do when meeting his hero, Bill Gates.

habits or little known facts about me
Here are the 10 weird things or habits or little known facts about me:
- I'm 30 years old (no, I'm not afraid to let you guys know my age) but security guards at Genting casino still asked for my MyKad. It happened so many times I'm not sure if I should take it as a compliment or an insult.
- Speaking about Genting, I'm one of those people who chose to sleep in the car at the parking lot in the open air.
- I'm obsess with mint. From mint chocolate ice cream to tiger balm, I can't live without them.
- I can't swim and I'm afraid of the water.
- I have phobia over snakes. It's pretty serious because if I flipped through a magazine and unexpectedly come across a snake picture, I'll jumped up.
- I've written fan letters and send sketches to New Kids On The Block, Toni Braxton and Wilson Phillips when I was in secondary school.
- I used to have 5 piercings on my left ears.
- I'm very particular about toilets. I would rather tahan until I go home. And I appreciate clean public toilet like the one at Mobil Bandar Utama.
- I'm easily touched when watching movies. It doesn't have to be a romance movie. As long as the movie has a touching line, I'm moved.
- I still keep a journal of all the sajak I've written since secondary school.
